This position will be part the Order Management & Risk Technology team at Schwab.  Our organization implements trading capabilities and risk management capabilities for equities, options, futures, and FX for Schwab’s active trader client base at scale of 7+ million trades per day, along with providing an efficient and flexible experience for day-to-day operations, including trading operations and margin associates.    

 

Our team is seeking a talented Software Engineer, who has a real passion for using state-of-the-art technologies to build compelling interactive high performing applications. As a Software Developer for the Client Interface Group (CIG), you will work within an Agile development team to define, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of distributed software solutions that support Schwab’s order management and trading capabilities. This role is dedicated to collaboratively understanding business needs and implementing robust technical solutions that are reusable, scalable, secure, and aligned to platform standards. You will partner closely with technology, product, and operations teams to improve delivery outcomes, support quality engineering practices, and help ensure reliable client and associate experiences.

 

The Software Developer will focus on development work for the NGOMS Rest Services, ngOMS Security, Oauth and other CIG related capabilities. This role may also assist with overflow work across ngOMS Core, Messaging and supporting applications, including tools used for internal work intake and operational support.

 

Additional skills and experiences that will contribute to your success in this role:

  • Developing and maintaining full-stack web solutions that support Schwab’s order management and trading platforms.

  • Collaborating with product owners, technology partners, and operations teams to understand business needs and deliver scalable technical solutions.

  • Contributing to the design, development, testing, and implementation of cross-functional application systems.

  • Building and supporting Java, Spring Boot, RESTful web service, and database solutions.

  • Ensuring code quality through unit testing, code reviews, secure coding practices, and adherence to team standards.

  • Supporting application performance, resiliency, monitoring, and troubleshooting for high-throughput enterprise systems.

  • Participating in Agile ceremonies and contributing to refinement, estimation, solutioning, and delivery planning.

  • Applying Schwab security protocols and authorization frameworks such as OAuth 2, SAML, and JWT where appropriate.

  • Demonstrating strong analytical, communication, and problem-resolution skills.

  • Continuously improving technical and professional skills while learning emerging technologies that strengthen team delivery.

 

 

 

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience.

  • 5+ years of experience with Java design and programming.

  • 3+ years of experience building or consuming RESTful services.

  • 3+ years of experience with Spring Boot and enterprise application development.

  • Experience with database development and troubleshooting.

  • Experience working in Agile delivery teams and participating in refinement, planning, development, and production support activities.

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suites such as, Bamboo, JIRA, and Confluence.

  • Experience with UNIX / Linux environments.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of Schwab’s Order Management ecosystem, including BrokerUI, NGOMS UI Rest Services, NGOMS Core, or related trading platform capabilities.

  • Experience in the Financial Services industry.

  • Experience supporting high-throughput, resilient enterprise applications.

  • Experience with performance tools, application tuning, and production monitoring.

  • Experience with authorization frameworks such as OAuth 2, SAML, and JWT.

  • Experience with SPLUNK, Oracle RAC, Oracle Coherence, GitHub, GCP, or AWS.

  • Mac OS and related development tools.

 

 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
